“You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”
< 2 Corinthians 3:2-3 >
Reading 2 Corinthians 3:2 carefully, you’ll notice that the Bible calls us the letter of Christ. This means our life has been written by the Lord Jesus Christ- just think of it – we’re His living letter, just as He’s the Living Word of God. “And the word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the father, full of grace and truth.” < John 1:14 > We’re are like Him in every way, and His message alive for the entire world to read and see.
As you study the New Testament, you’ll realise that God doesn’t want us seeing His Words as commands to be obeyed. Rather, He wants us living and acting out what the Word says. The reason we can do this is because we’re born of Him, in the same way a human is born of another human. Thus, we’re the offspring of the Word; we’re the very expression of His life and personality. This is the real christian life: the daily expression of God through us. And as the LORD Jesus was the Word of God become flesh and living among people, we too are the Word of God in living colour, expressing His beauties, perfections and will in the earth today. Hallelujah!
